This award recognises the outstanding contribution by an individual to the NSW tourism industry, honouring those who go over and above their own commercial focus to contribute to the broader industry.
The 2025 Outstanding Contribution by an Individual Award is awarded posthumously to Rose Wright, in recognition of her exceptional legacy and service to the industry.
Rose was Founder of Regionality and former CEO of Destination Tweed. Rose was a pioneering leader in agritourism, culinary tourism and regional food systems. In her career which extended more than 30 years, Rose worked alongside farmers, agritourism operators and was passionate about regional tourism. A thought leader in agri and culinary tourism and regional food systems, Rose has pioneered new approaches in the development and implementation of farm to plate value chain development and helped transform agricultural regions into food destinations.
Lyndel Gray
With more than 37 years in tourism — including senior roles at Destination NSW and Tourism Australia — Lyndel Gray has played a major role in elevating both Australia’s and NSW’s global tourism profile, leading major initiatives such as Oprah Winfrey’s Sydney visit.
Her leadership has driven record growth in the caravan and camping sector, and she continues to shape the industry as Chair of Destination Sydney Surrounds South and Deputy Chair of Surfing NSW, strengthening industry capacity and collaboration.
Lyndel has inspired countless tourism professionals, particularly emerging leaders who see her as a mentor and role model. Her deep knowledge, creativity and unwavering integrity have made her one of the sector’s most respected figures.
