Celebrating NSW's Top Tourism Town Winners of 2026

Huge congratulations to the winners of the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards, announced at the Local Government NSW Destination and Visitor Economy Conference in Maitland.

These awards celebrate the outstanding regional destinations across New South Wales that deliver exceptional visitor experiences, showcase strong community pride and continue to inspire travellers to explore more of the state.

The awards program recognises towns across three population categories and includes a consumer voting component through the NRMA People’s Choice Award, celebrating the destinations most loved by visitors.

NSW's Top Tourism Town

KIAMA - Just two hours south of Sydney, Kiama welcomes you to experience the passion and spirit of its community first-hand. Lose yourself in the rhythm of crashing waves, wander along scenic coastal trails, and take in sweeping views that feel like they belong on a postcard. In Kiama, every moment is an invitation to slow down, explore, and reconnect.

NSW's Small Tourism Town

GULGONG -  Just over four hours from Sydney, this historic gold rush town proves that small is its superpower. No crowds, no mega-attractions, just space to breathe and moments to connect. Here, kids trade screens for fresh air, imaginations run wild, and parents finally get a breather. Wander heritage streets, stumble across incredible museums, climb the Adventure Playground, or simply lose track of time over a relaxed pub lunch. Intimate, unhurried, and unapologetically small.

NSW's Tiny Tourism Town

BROKE - Reconnect with loved ones in the breathtaking Broke Fordwich region of the Hunter Valley. This charming destination invites you to slow down, savour award-winning wines, and indulge in exceptional local food. Discover boutique winemakers, passionate chefs, and the Broke Fordwich Wine Trail, alongside art, culture, nature walks and farm experiences. Immerse yourself in stunning landscapes and create meaningful moments that linger longer.

NSW's Tiny Tourism Town - Hall of Fame

HUSKISSON - After 3 consecutive wins, Huskisson is inducted into the Hall of Fame.  The jewel of Jervis Bay on the NSW South Coast, this charming coastal town boasts 16 stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and abundant wildlife. Relax on white sands, enjoy a vibrant foodie scene, or seek adventure with water sports, dolphin cruises, and whale swims, plus cultural experiences and iconic beachside kangaroos.
